Founded in 2001, ER-Telecom plans to reach 20% market share in Russia’s Cable industry. Hence, the company needs to raise $ 500 million.

AOL and Private Equity firms to bid for Yahoo Inc.
Thursday, October 14th, 2010
According to Wall Street Journal, AOL Inc and several private equity firms are planning to bid for Yahoo Inc. Among the private equity firms, Silver Lake Partners and Blackstone Group have given interest for Yahoo by taking it private on their own or teaming with AOL.
AOL spun off from Time Warner in 2009, so its market capitalization is smaller than Yahoo’s, which makes the scenario for the deal more complex. China’s Alibaba Group would buy back Yahoo’s 40% stake in Alibaba, Yahoo would also sell off their other assets to Media and Technology companies interested, and so the remaining company would be at an affordable valuation for private equity firms. Another scenario is a merger of Yahoo and AOL, Yahoo could buy AOL, or AOL and some private equity companies could buy Yahoo. The result would combine two big internet brands, AOL and Yahoo to compete with Google Inc.
BT passes 15 million broadband milestone
Thursday, September 2nd, 2010
BT announced in a press release that the group reached 15 million broadband milestone, including households and small businesses. This milestone was passed in August, but in June 2010, BT finished the quarter with 14.918 million broadband lines, near this milestone. Considering that BT had 2.000 broadband subscribers in August 2002, the company added 14.8 million subscribers in 8 years which represents more than 5.000 new customers a day.
Olivia Garfiel, BT strategy director, declared : “Broadband Britain has been a success story with widespread availability, low prices and high take up. People were sceptical when BT backed broadband in 2002 but the figures speak for themselves with the vast majority of new customers choosing broadband over BT’s network rather than alternative ones where prices are far higher. The story doesn’t end here as BT is now investing a further £2.5 billion to roll out fibre broadband to two thirds of the UK. This will help the UK climb the league tables for speeds, one of the few areas in which we don’t lead the world”.
