Global mobile handsets shipments up 14% in Q409
Friday, January 29th, 2010According to Dataxis Intelligence’s latest updates, global mobile handsets shipments have reached 330 million units in Q409 up 6% from a year ago and 14% more than in Q309. As expected, Nokia still leads the market with 127 million devices shipped, followed by Samsung, the rising South Korean giant, which claims 69 million devices shipment in the reported quarter. As for the smartphone niche market, Dataxis estimates converged devices shipments to have reached 52 million units in the quarter, up 13% on a quarterly basis. Nokia kept its leadership here as well with a 40% market share while RIM positioned itself at the second place with a slighltly over 19% market share followed closer by Apple with a 17% share.
