Indian DTH market added 2.7 million subscribers in March 2010
Wednesday, June 30th, 2010According to Dataxis Intelligence, Indian DTH market reached 21.197 million subscribers in the first quarter of 2010.The market is highly competitive with six DTH operators : Bharti Airtel, Dish TV, Reliance Communications, Sun Direct, Tata Sky and the new entrant Videocon. India had 18.424 million DTH subscribers at the end of 2009.
Dish TV, the operator owned by Essel group, is the leader in this market with 5.7 million subscribers, which represents a 27% market share. Tata Sky is following just behind with 5 million subscribers, these two companies represent the half Indian DTH market. The new entrant Videocon is successful with around 600.000 subscribers since its launch in 2009.
