Korea: 40% internet subscribers are using 100 Mbps Internet

High speed internet has grown fast over the last two years in Korea to cover around 40% of internet users who represents more than 5 million, out of 12.7 million internet subscribers.
100 Mbps users are distributed as follows:

  • 3.6 million are using SK Broadband access which represents 70% of the operator’s internet subscriber base
  • 2.3 million are LG Powercomm customers, that is 61% of the telecom provider’s internet subscriber base
  • 1.1 million users from KT which is 17% of the operator’s internet customer base.

Hulu Launches its Desktop Application allowing a “lean-back” viewing experience

Online video site Hulu has launched its “Desktop application”, a lean-back viewing experience for personal computers.

The application features a sleek new look that’s optimized for use with standard Windows Media Center remote controls or Apple remote controls, allowing its users to navigate Hulu’s entire library with just six buttons.

For users without remotes, the application is keyboard and mouse-enabled. Hulu Desktop is a downloadable application and works on PCs and Macs.

The application will initially launch as a beta product during which the company plans to gather and incorporate user feedback to improve the service.
