Intel to acquire McAfee

IntelIntel Corporation announced an agreement to acquire McAfee by the purchase of all company’s common stock at $48 per share in cash. It represents approximately $7.68 billion.

With this acquisition, the company looks in the future and the importance of security of connected devices. Security will be one of the priority of Intel Corporation. Paul Otellini, Intel president and CEO, said : “With the rapid expansion of growth across a vast array of Internet-connected devices, more and more of the elements of our lives have moved online. In the past, energy-efficient performance and connectivity have defined computing requirements. Looking forward, security will join those as a third pillar of what people demand from all computing experiences.”

Intel and McAfee will offer its partnership to connected devices such as mobile and wireless devices, TVs, cars, medical devices and ATM machines, with a new approach and a same goal, the security of consumers.
